Expanding Access to Support: FDD’s Partnership with the Autism Society of San Diego

Updated: Feb 9

Navigating the complex world of autism services can be overwhelming for individuals, families, and professionals seeking guidance, resources, and support. That’s why the Autism Society San Diego created the Autism Ask Line, a lifeline for the autism community that provides personalized assistance to help families access the needed services.

At the Foundation for Developmental Disabilities (FDD), we understand how vital accessible information and advocacy are in ensuring autistic individuals receive the proper support at the right time. That’s why we are proud to partner with the Autism Society San Diego to sustain and expand the Autism Ask Line—ensuring that more families have a trusted resource to turn to when they need answers.

A Lifeline for Families Navigating Autism Services

The Autism Ask Line is a crucial community resource that connects individuals with accurate information, local services, and personalized guidance. Whether a family is navigating a new diagnosis, seeking therapy options, seeking school accommodations, or connecting with social programs, the Autism Ask Line provides clarity, direction, and support.

Finding an accepting and inclusive community makes all the difference for many families. One parent beautifully captured the impact of the Autism Society’s support:

"The autistic joy, celebratory cheer, and unyielding support that the Autism Society shows not only to our son but to our entire family at every single step is this spectacularly illuminating, enveloping, and soul-charging experience that comes only from their genuine, heartfelt, unreserved acceptance of our son’s entire self."

This genuine, heartfelt support is at the core of everything the Autism Society does; families who reach out know they will be met with compassion, understanding, and expert guidance.

FDD’s Support: Expanding Access to Critical Autism Resources

To ensure that the Autism Ask Line remains a strong, reliable resource, FDD has allocated a $4,000 grant to sustain this essential service. This funding will:

  • Support staffing, ensuring trained specialists can answer questions and guide families.

  • Cover materials and technology costs, maintaining the infrastructure needed to assist more individuals.

  • Expand access to families throughout San Diego County, reaching more people who need autism-related guidance and support.

By partnering with the Autism Society San Diego, FDD is helping families connect with the knowledge, resources, and advocacy they need to make informed decisions.

Together, We Are Strengthening Support for the Autism Community

For families navigating autism services, having a trusted resource like the Autism Ask Line can make all the difference. Through this partnership with the Autism Society San Diego, FDD is ensuring that more families in San Diego receive the guidance and support they need.
