Breaking Barriers Through Movement: FDD’s Partnership with Toby Wells YMCA Adaptive Gymnastics

At the Foundation for Developmental Disabilities (FDD), we ensure that children and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) access enriching, inclusive programs that support their physical, social, and emotional well-being. That’s why we are proud to partner with the Toby Wells YMCA, a leader in adaptive programming, to support their Adaptive Gymnastics program. Children can thrive, grow, and redefine what is possible in this space.

Empowering Every Child Through Adaptive Gymnastics

Gymnastics is more than just a sport—it’s a foundation for strength, confidence, coordination, and social engagement. The Toby Wells YMCA Adaptive Gymnastics program is designed to provide a safe and supportive environment where children and teens with IDDs can build physical skills, develop friendships, and gain confidence in their abilities.

Through modified equipment, specialized coaching, and an inclusive approach, athletes of all abilities can experience the joy of movement while learning skills that foster independence and resilience.

FDD’s Support: Expanding Access for Families

To ensure that cost is never a barrier for families interested in adaptive gymnastics, FDD has awarded Toby Wells YMCA an $8,500 grant.

This funding will:
