Partner Highlight: Villa de Vida Social Club - Building Inclusive Communities for Adults with I/DDs

Villa de Vida is dedicated to creating vibrant communities where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DDs) can live fulfilling lives. At the heart of this mission is the Villa de Vida Social Club, a dynamic and supportive environment offering educational, recreational, and social activities that foster meaningful relationships and personal growth. The Social Club provides individuals with I/DDs the opportunities they need to thrive, embodying the values of community, service, dignity, and inclusion.

Creating a Space for Connection and Growth

The Villa de Vida Social Club is more than just a gathering place; it is a supportive community that encourages members to explore their interests, build friendships, and engage in enriching activities. By offering a variety of social events and learning experiences, the club helps individuals with I/DDs develop life skills and build confidence, all while having fun.

Spenser Bryant, a Direct Support Professional, emphasizes the organization’s commitment to the I/DD community: "Villa de Vida is a wonderful organization that supports the I/DD community in San Diego. We assist in improving the day-to-day lives of our participants and their families. We encourage our group to live well-rounded, meaningful lives and to be the best they can be."

Exciting Outings Supported by FDD Funding

We are excited to announce that, thanks to the Foundation for Developmental Disabilities (FDD), Villa de Vida’s Social Club members will enjoy exciting field trips this year. The grant funding will allow them to attend a Padres game, SeaWorld, and the San Diego Zoo. These outings are about fun, enhancing social experiences, building community connections, and creating lasting memories. These field trips allow members to explore new environments, meet new people, and strengthen bonds with their peers while experiencing the joy and excitement of these remarkable events.

Emily Kipp, Activities Coordinator, and Direct Support Professional highlights the Social Club's impact on its members: "The Villa de Vida Social Club is an inclusive and supportive community group that fosters friendships and opportunities for socialization and fun!"

Building a More Inclusive Community

Villa de Vida’s mission goes beyond just offering recreational activities. It is about creating a space where everyone is valued, supported, and encouraged to live their best lives. Through the Social Club, members gain access to educational opportunities, community events, and a network of friends who share their experiences and aspirations.

FDD is honored to help make these enriching experiences possible. By providing funds for these outings, we are working together to build a more inclusive community where adults with I/DDs can lead vibrant, meaningful lives.
