Investing in Accessibility and Opportunity: FDD Announces 2026 Capital Grant Recipients

The Foundation for Developmental Disabilities (FDD) proudly supports organizations creating long-term, tangible improvements for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Through our 2026 Capital Funding Special Gift Funds Program, FDD invests in infrastructure, equipment, and resources that strengthen accessibility, expand opportunity, and enhance quality of life for the IDD community across San Diego and Imperial Counties.

Unlike traditional program grants, capital funding supports the physical tools and infrastructure that allow programs to grow and operate safely for years to come. These investments empower nonprofit organizations to increase innovation, improve accessibility, and expand their long-term capacity to serve individuals with IDD.

In 2026, FDD is proud to award $94,450.44 in capital funding to four nonprofit partners whose projects will create meaningful and lasting impact in the local community.

Adjoin

Capital Grant Award: $23,000

FDD funding will support the purchase of specialized equipment designed to expand long-term training and creative opportunities for adults with IDD in Imperial County.

Adjoin will use the funding to acquire:

  • A mobile training workstation and accessories.

  • A ceramic production system (kilns and pottery wheels) with necessary electrical infrastructure upgrades.

  • Glowforge Pro laser cutter.

These capital investments will enhance workforce development, creativity, and hands-on skill building, creating innovative pathways for individuals with IDD to explore artistic expression and vocational opportunities.

Ainsley’s Angels

Capital Grant Award: $30,000

FDD funding will support the purchase of additional racing chairs, allowing more individuals with IDD to participate in endurance events and outdoor activities.

Ainsley’s Angels of America works to ensure everyone has the opportunity to experience endurance athletics and community inclusion. The new adaptive racing equipment will enable more riders to participate in races and outdoor experiences alongside volunteer runners, strengthening connection, confidence, and community engagement.

D’Vine Path

Capital Grant Award: $33,431.44

FDD funding will support the purchase of a professional greenhouse with automated climate controls and an outdoor walk-in cooler.

D’Vine Path provides life-skills training and vocational experiences through agriculture and community programming. The new greenhouse and cooler will stabilize year-round learning opportunities, protect instructional materials, and expand agricultural training programs that empower participants to develop meaningful skills and independence.

XO Ranch

Capital Grant Award: $8,019

FDD funding will support the purchase of riding arena panels and pasture safety gates, essential safety and containment equipment used during equine-assisted activities.

XO Ranch provides equine experiences that help individuals with disabilities build confidence, independence, and connection through interaction with horses and outdoor environments. The new safety infrastructure will ensure a secure and supportive setting for participants while expanding the organization’s capacity to host equine-therapy programming safely.

Building a Stronger Future Together

Through these investments, FDD is proud to support projects that strengthen safety, expand access, and create new opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Capital funding ensures that organizations have the essential infrastructure needed to grow innovative programs and sustain meaningful impact for years to come.

The $94,450.44 awarded through the 2026 Capital Funding Special Gift Funds Program represents more than equipment and infrastructure—it represents a continued commitment to building inclusive communities where individuals with IDD can thrive, learn, and fully participate in the world around them.

Together with our nonprofit partners, FDD remains dedicated to advancing opportunity, dignity, and independence for individuals and families across San Diego and Imperial Counties.
