SAN DIEGO, June 5, 2023— The Foundation for Developmental Disabilities (FDD) is thrilled to announce its annual Day at the Races fundraising event to be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 12:00 PM at the Il Palio restaurant at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.
The event features edge-of-your-seat entertainment, a silent auction, and stimulating community engagement from the vantage of a luxurious skybox overlooking the racetrack. The Foundation's Day at the Races has been a community attraction for over ten years, enabling FDD to sustain its Help Fund program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) and their families in San Diego and Imperial Counties.
All proceeds from the event support FDD's Help Fund, available to the San Diego Regional Center's (SDRC) 37,000 clients facing financial hardship. The individuals with IDDs and families supported by this program are granted emergency funds on a case-by-case basis for rental and housing, utility assistance, and other situations that negatively affect their quality of life.
The Help Fund program is one of FDD's most impactful programs. Since 1986, FDD has provided over $1,550,500 to assist SDRC’s clients. Further, the Foundation has served over 1,960 individual SDRC clients over time.
"We look forward to the continued support of our community as we gather with friends, colleagues, and family to sustain our life-altering programs," said Sitara Sethi, Chief Executive Officer of FDD.
Tickets for Day at the Races can be purchased on the Foundation's website at www.foundationfordd.org/events. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses and individuals who wish to support the Foundation’s Help Fund.
